Job Description:

Work Schedule: 3pm - 11:30pm, weekend call rotation required.

• Performs decontamination, disinfection, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and infection prevention standards.
• Operates and monitors sterilization equipment, selecting appropriate sterilization methods, reviewing sterilizer records, and verifying parameters before releasing items for patient care.
• Assembles and prepares instrument trays and complex surgical sets, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation within tracking systems.
• Maintains sterility assurance and quality control by verifying indicators and lot stickers, documenting sterilization activities, and managing recall procedures for sterilization failures.
• Collaborates with hospital departments and team members to support workflow efficiency, resolve issues, train new staff, and rotate through all Central Sterile Processing functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. [Required]

• Ability to understand the needs of the customer and respond to them in a pro-active, courteous, professional, and efficient manner. [Required]

• Flexibility and ability to adapt to change. [Required]

• Ability to work under stress and deadlines. [Required]

• Medical terminology [Required]

• Understanding of the principles of microbiology, aseptic principles and techniques, and infection control as they apply to sterile supply operation. [Required]

• Basic knowledge of prevention of cross contamination and the critical nature of nosocomial infections. [Required]

• Knowledge of the use, operation, maintenance, assembly, disassembly and cleaning requirements of the full range of instruments and equipment. [Required]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Field of Study:

• in healthcare sterile processing

Work Experience:

• 1+ related experience [Preferred]

Additional Information:

• N/A

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Required] OR

• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Required]

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]

Pay Range:

$16.36 - $26.17
