ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The ASU/PACU RN works within the Ambulatory Surgery and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within the inter-discilinary and collaborative Peri-Operative clinical area. They are proficient in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning and self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations. The ASU/PACU RN assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include but are not limited to the following: Provides competent, knowledge and evidence-based care to patients. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care-based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Assesses and prepares patients for procedures appropriately. Applies knowledge of professional nursing practice and process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to care. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care. Establishes a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment. Engages patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgement or discrimination. Practices high reliability principles to deliver consistent care and improve patient outcomes. Communicates, collaborates, and utilizes leadership principles to perform as an effective member of the interprofessional team. Demonstrates positive, effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers. Participates in unit based educational activities and continuing education requirements. Maintaines competency to continue personal and professional growth. Provides the Veteran, Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, and all other customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Manages workload as assigned, organizes, and completes own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments. Performs all relevant duties as assigned.
