<p>Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Responsible for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Influences care by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and creating innovative process improvements.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. Responsible for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance. Function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organizations vision and mission. Responsible to complete and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire, and to complete and maintain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire/promotion. Provide coverage for other ANMs as needed. Non-Supervisory: This is NON SUPERVISORY Assistant Nurse Manager. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Preferred Experience: Preferred candidate will have BSN and or National Certification. ACLS preferred. 3-5 years of recent medical, surgical, or specialty care experience, to include direct patient care and or case management/care coordination. Preferred candidate will have more than 1-2 years of recent as charge nurse, supervisory or managerial experience.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation.
