<p>The Assistant Chief Nurse Amb Care demonstrates leadership characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for primary care and integrated programs that cross service and discipline lines, influencing the organizational healthcare mission. Collaborates with the Chief Nurse of Amb Care to develop and implement a shared vision aimed at the standardization and optimization of primary care delivery throughout the LLHCS, with a primary focus on its multiple CBOCs.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Please note: You will be expected to travel for this position. The majority of the time will be spent at each of the CBOC locations. The Nurse IV Assistant Chief Nurse serves as an advisor, administrator, educator, consultant, and mentor, bringing a broad range of experience and leadership skills. The ACN provides senior leadership and oversight for daily clinical and administrative operations within primary care nursing, under the direction of the Chief Nurse of Ambulatory Care and the Deputy/Associate Director for Patient Care Services (DADPCS/ADPCS). Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, CBOCs located in Blythe, Hemet, Murrieta, Palm Desert, Rancho Cucamonga, and Victorville. The ACN is responsible for regularly visiting each CBOC on a planned rotation to provide leadership, support, and to promote excellence in primary care. The ACN supports integration and collaboration between nursing and other professional disciplines and functional areas to achieve patient-centered and organizational goals. They champion a High Reliability Organization (HRO) by fostering a culture of safety rooted in a systems approach, promoting evidence-based healthcare solution emphasizing prevention and collective mindfulness. The ACN collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and program and service leaders at the facility and network levels, building effective relationships with VA staff across the organization to support Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACTs). The ACN ensures the consistent delivery of patientcentered, data-driven, continuously improving, team-based, accessible, timely, comprehensive, and coordinated care, with a focus on continuity over time. The ACN relates effectively with Veterans, families, the community, and program and service leaders at the local and network levels. They assist the Chief Nurse of Ambulatory Care with healthcare operations and the expected functions and activities of the role. The ACN contributes to the development of standards of care, policies, and objectives that enhance nursing practice.
