<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Advanced Practice Nurse Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Mental Health Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic mental health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice. Assess, diagnose, monitor, manage and treat mental health diagnoses (DSM-5). Develops and implements an individualized plan for psychiatric treatment of substance abuse (acute and chronic, including detoxification). Accurately completes mental health history, relevant health history, physical examination, and biopsychosocial assessment. Administers and interprets standardized measures to assess patient outcomes and progress. Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services. Provides counseling and education to patients, families, and caregivers. Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes and meet mental health goals. All other duties as assigned, pertaining to this occupation, to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service.
