ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE (NURSE PRACTITIONER)

<p>About the Position: This position is located in the Family Medicine Department, Directorate for Medicine, Naval Health Clinic Oak Harbor (NHCOH). This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Provide comprehensive health care to eligible beneficiaries in an ambulatory setting in association with staff physicians and other medical staff.</p><p>Manage acute and chronic health problems in accordance with existing core privileges.</p><p>Provide follow-up care to patients to ascertain the patient’s compliance with recommendations for therapy and response to treatment.</p><p>Refer complex patient care issues to department physicians and consults specialists as needed.</p><p>Analyze and interpret routine laboratory results.</p><p>Consult with a physician for the interpretation of more complex laboratory results and reading of ECGs and X-rays.</p><p>Prescribe and dispense controlled medications.</p><p>Instruct and counsel the patient to assure greater understanding and compliance with treatment plan and longer-term health maintenance, providing general health counseling and anticipatory guidance to patients as required.</p><p>Coordinate care provided to patients by other specialists including both military and civilian consultants to include making appropriate and timely referrals for patients and optimize patient flow within the MTF as appropriate.</p><p>In emergency situations, administer life-saving procedures and medication in accordance with the Code Blue instruction, pending availability of a physician.</p>
