Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner)

<p>About the Position: This position is located within Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Surgery, Department of OB/GYN General Obstetrics & Gynecology at Bethesda, Maryland. Work hours: 80 hours to a 2 week period. No evenings or weekends. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Conduct and direct collaborative care assessment, diagnosis and management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.</p><p>Implement the patient therapeutic care plan, with significant emphasis in the areas of patient/family education, assessment, and support.</p><p>Order and interpret related laboratory and diagnostic tests; prescribe medications; and initiates emergency care.</p><p>Consult and collaborate with physicians and other health care providers regarding patient management o include evaluating and revising therapeutic plans and managing high-risk, unstable, or extremely complex patients.</p><p>Evaluate care delivery models and strategies, using concepts related to community, environmental/occupational health, and cultural and socioeconomic dimensions of health.</p><p>Serve as a preceptor to graduate students enrolled in nurse practitioner and physician assistant programs, medical students and to newly assigned nurse practitioners.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
