<p>The Nurse Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse and a clinical expert who uses advanced specialized knowledge and judgement for delivery of high quality and evidence­based care to patients with late-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), and end-stage renal disease (ESRD).</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Registered Nurse dialysis scope of assignments includes direct care, clinical consultation, leadership, educational components, and evidence-based research. Provides leadership in case management and care coordination for Veterans. Handles multiple projects and duties simultaneously, prioritizing as needed. Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems that result in improved outcomes. Recognizes ethical problems and serves as an expert resource or consultant to patients, families, or other allied health care providers. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for renal patients. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility.
